I am running for my first term as part of the Forward 55th Slate to advocate for policies and political representatives that will prioritize the needs of children and working families. Some of our priorities are: Mobility Justice, Affordable Housing, Voting rights, Getting money out of politics, Equity in Education, Access to Mental Health Care, Medicare For All, Cancelling Student Debt, and Environmental justice.
My first experience with politics was in college, canvassing in Wisconsin in the 2016 Wisconsin State Senator election. Currently, I chair the Marketing and Events section of Westside Young Democrats. I’m also involved in several community groups, and have volunteered on several local progressive campaigns, including Bubba Fish’s, Nancy Barba’s and Yasmine-Imani McMorrin’s campaigns for Culver City Council. I also volunteer with measure Healthy Streets LA (HLA) with Streets for All in LA City to bring safer, more equitably-designed streets throughout LA City. As a survivor of traffic violence, I serve on the SAFE (Streets Are For Everyone) Families and Support committee, which offers support for victims while lobbying for street safety advocacy. Lastly, I’m on the Steering Committee of Culver City Pride Ride and Rally, an annual Pride event that engages the community and inspires a brighter future.
A list of campaigns and initiatives with which I am involved:
• Served on the E-Board for Westside Young Democrats as Events Director, planning events for candidates across the region (Los Angeles, Culver City, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood) leading canvasses, and engaging the community in campaign work.
• Volunteered on the campaign team for Yamine-Imani McMorrin, who was recently re-elected to the Culver City Council.
• Volunteered on the campaign team for Bubba Fish, who was recently elected to the Culver City Council.
• Volunteered on the campaign team for Nancy Barba, who was recently elected to the Culver City Council.
• Volunteered on the campaign team for Measure Healthy Streets LA (HLA) with Streets for All, canvassing and delivering signs throughout LA City. Measure HLA passed with 66% of the vote in LA City.
• Served on the Families and Support committee for Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE), doing community outreach at events and supporting the Press Conference for World Day of Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims.
• Served on the Steering Committee for Culver City Pride, planning and facilitating a community bike ride and street party to celebrate Pride and envision an inclusive community.

Hi, I’m Greg Bartlett, Delegate to the California Democratic Party. I’m running with a phenomenal slate of activists called Forward 55. I’m seeking your endorsement for a fourth term because our work is not done. California Democrats, with supermajority control of the (soon to be) 4th largest economy in the world, should be leading the country doing what our democracy should do: take care of it’s citizens. We must prioritize assistance to the most vulnerable: our unhoused neighbors, people formerly and currently incarcerated, and those with disabillities. We must endeavor to make single payer healthcare a reality, I believe healthcare is a right. We know that climate change is a real and present danger requiring massive infrastructure shifts toward clean energy and upgrading our power grids. For far too long our systems in the US have exploited Black, Indigenous, and people of color to uphold white supremacy. Black lives must matter. Our education system must reflect 21st century needs with high quality, tuition-free, Pre-k through College. And we must reject the criminalization of students of color. We also need dramatic changes in our criminal justice system and shift police funding towards care, housing, and hunger. We have to stop the scapegoating immigrants and institute real immigration reform and, immediately close the camps. Our politicians should answer to their constituents, not corporate donors. With your support, I look forward to continuing my work the CA Democratic Party. Please vote the complete FORWARD 55 slate so we can work together to accomplish these goals.

Stirred by an overwhelming sense of duty, I am running for my fourth term. I am an environmentalist, an ally, and a caretaker for the community. As an educator I campaign for children’s rights, and family rights. As a transmedia artist, I use my platform to give voice to the voiceless. I'm effective; what I pursue, gets done. I'm accessible; y'all know how to find me. As the Recording Secretary for Culver City Democratic Club, I am fully edified in the current concerns of our communities. I’m an advocate; and I am at your service.

As a proud resident of Del Rey and AD55, I am passionate about making our community into a better place for all. My commitment to sustainable transportation, safer streets, and accessible transit options led to my work on the Bike Culver City Steering Committee. My belief in the importance of ensuring LGBTQ+ inclusion and in promoting city policies that reflect the diverse voices of our community led to my participation with the Culver City Pride Steering Committee. Housing and transportation advocacy are central to my vision. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to affordable housing and efficient, sustainable transit systems that prioritize safety, reduce environmental impact, and enhance overall quality of life. I have actively volunteered on campaigns supporting progressive leaders and organizations that promote these values, including Bubba Fish, Yasmine Imani McMorrin, Kenneth Mejia, Erin Darling, Healthy Streets LA, and Vote16CC. I am thrilled to join the Forward 55th Slate. Together, we can advocate for a community that reflects our shared values of equity, sustainability, and resilience. Additionally, I am honored to have the endorsement of the Progressive Delegates Network (PDN), supporting my commitment to fighting for these values.

I am honored to run as a delegate for the California Democratic Party. As a lifelong Angeleno, policy advocate, and dedicated community leader, I am committed to ensuring that our party fights for working families and progressive change that uplifts all Californians. In my professional role, I advocate for policies that expand and enhance child care and preschool services for families across Los Angeles County and the state. My work has centered on ensuring that every child has access to high-quality early learning opportunities. I serve as an appointee to the Early Childhood Policy Council Parent Advisory Committee and as an alternate representative on the LA County Child Care Planning Committee. Beyond early education, I am deeply engaged in grassroots organizing and civic leadership. I served on the Executive Board of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats (LACYD), where I worked to strengthen youth engagement in our party. As a delegate, I will fight for a party that prioritizes working families, equitable access to education, and policies that reflect the needs of our diverse communities. I ask for your support to ensure our district’s voices are heard in shaping the future of the California Democratic Party. Let’s build a stronger, more inclusive Democratic Party together. I’d be honored to earn your vote. In solidarity, Patrick MacFarlane

I am a member of the Central Committee of the County Democratic Party and the Executive Board member for the 55th Assembly District, elected in the 2023 ADEMs. I am proud to be running for re-election with the Forward 55 slate, a group of outstanding social justice activists. Our slate has swept the last three elections and we hope to serve you for a fourth! I believe that Democrats should be the party that fights to give voice to the voiceless and power to the powerless and to serve the needs of the poor and working class – not a party working for millionaires and billionaires. After three terms as a delegate to the California Democratic Party, I know that progressive values can remain at the center of our party ONLY if WE, the delegates, hold party leadership accountable. I am running to hold party leadership, elected officials and other delegates to these high standards. My history of pro-people advocacy and organizing includes working to help pass permanent rent control and robust tenant protections in Culver City and then successfully defending these measures against a ballot initiative created by landlords and Republicans to repeal them. As Chair of the Politics/Elections and Legislation committees of the Culver City Democratic Club, I have organized candidate forums and overseen the club’s candidate and legislative endorsement process. I also serve on the Santa Monica Democratic Club legislative committee. I coordinated grassroots support for state bills on getting corporate money out of California politics, criminal justice reform, environmental protection, safe streets, LGBTQ rights, affordable housing, and tenant’s rights – selecting, tracking and advocating for around 30 bills a year. I volunteered on campaigns of many local progressive leaders such as Daniel Lee, Alex Fisch, Yasmine-Imani McMorrin, Freddy Puza, Bubba Fish, Holly Mitchell, Sade Elhawary, Isaac Bryan, and Ysabel Jurado. I am a co-organizer of the Forward 55 slate. We are proud to be endorsed by the Progressive Delegate Network.

As a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 2013-2022, he earned a reputation for taking principled stands and pushing forward-thinking solutions. He led on the issues of homelessness and affordable housing, tenant issues, transportation and mobility, reimagining public safety, and local responses to climate change.
Mike’s key accomplishments include: raising the citywide minimum wage; crafting historic renter protections; initiating the city’s transition to 100% clean energy; providing free public transit to K-12 and community college students; jump-starting modernization of LAX; restoring and expanding the LAFD; reforming campaign finance laws to allow grassroots candidates to compete; creating more than 1000 units of homeless housing; and modeling a services-led approach to the homelessness crisis with the city’s largest and most successful “encampments to homes” homeless housing initiative. One of Mike’s proudest achievements is successfully fighting for reforms that have made it easier for grassroots candidates to challenge the establishment.
Mike is currently an instructor of public policy at Occidental College and UCLA. He is a Senior Fellow with LA Forward Institute, an organization promoting civic engagement and education, a Senior Fellow with Community Coalition, and a consultant to Local Progress, a national network of locally elected progressive officials. Mike hosts the What’s Next Los Angeles podcast, focusing on politics and public policy, co-hosts LA Podcast, writes about economic, racial and social justice, and is a frequent commentator on public affairs.

Hi, I’m Omer (they/he), and I’m asking for your vote as an Assembly Delegate. As a first-generation immigrant who grew up in a working-class family, I’ve lived the realities of paycheck-to-paycheck struggles and saw my family lose our home due to the 2008 financial crisis. These experiences drive my commitment to public service and grassroots organizing. I’m a UCLA graduate with a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, and I’ve built my career as a Policy Analyst, Strategic Researcher, and community advocate. I’ve worked with labor unions, community-based organizations, and local governments to fight for worker rights, equitable development, and sustainable policies. My previous roles include working for progressive leaders in the State Legislature, always centering labor, environmental, and racial equity in policy. I have been endorsed by the Progressive Delegate Network and am committed to organizing with progressive Democrats at the grassroots level to build movements that fight for justice and equity. I am also proudly anti-genocide, and am horrified by the actions of the Israeli state against Gaza and the West Bank. The Democrats have not always been on the right side of history, but that needs to change if we want a livable planet and for the carnage in Palestine to end. Now more than ever, our party leaders need to know who we stand up for and divorce money from politics. As an ADEM, I will speak truth to power through my vote and voice. Together, we can make bold, people-centered change a reality.

Greetings, I am Pastor Eddie Anderson, and I am running to be your next California Assembly Delegate for District 55. As a community organizer, advocate, and ordained minister, I am deeply committed to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for all residents of our district.
For years, I have served as the Senior Pastor of McCarty Memorial Christian Church in West Adams and worked as a seasoned community organizer with LA Voice—a multi-racial, multi-faith nonprofit focused on building power for working families and marginalized communities. I know firsthand the challenges we face—whether it's fighting for affordable housing, living wages, immigrant rights, or policies that lift families out of poverty.
Why I’m Running:
I am running as part of Forward 55, a slate of progressive candidates committed to moving our community and our state forward. Our collective vision is to create a California that works for everyone, not just the privileged few. We are committed to championing policies that address the urgent needs of our time: economic justice, racial equity, and environmental sustainability.
As a lifelong advocate for social change, I have fought for solutions to the homelessness crisis, which remains a moral and economic catastrophe for our state. More people are falling into homelessness than we can provide stable housing for, and the rising cost of living is making it harder for families to thrive. I will work relentlessly to address these challenges by pushing for more affordable housing, creating living-wage jobs, and ensuring that every Californian has the opportunity to live with dignity.
My Plan for District 55:
I believe in a California where no one is left behind. We need policies that uplift working people, promote affordable housing, protect workers' rights, and address the root causes of poverty and displacement. I will fight for:
• Affordable Housing for All: We must build more housing that is accessible to all Californians, particularly for those facing displacement in communities of color.
• Economic Justice: We need to invest in local, living-wage jobs and union opportunities to ensure working families can afford to live in our state without struggling to make ends meet.
• Protecting Worker Rights: I am committed to ensuring that workers—especially those in low-wage and essential sectors—have the protections they deserve.
• Equity in Policy: I will fight for policies that uplift marginalized communities, including immigrants, Black and Brown residents, and those facing systemic barriers to opportunity.
I have spent over a decade working with communities to fight for affordable housing, fair wages, immigrant rights, and social justice. I co-founded the Partnership for Growth LA, a Black and Jewish Community Development Corporation, which has already invested $8M into our communities to promote economic empowerment and improve quality of life.
A Vision for the Future:
Inspired by the transformative work of civil rights leaders like Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and my mentor, Reverend James Lawson, I believe in combining compassion with action. Our work is grounded in the belief that people of faith and conscience must lead the charge for freedom, justice, and human dignity.
“Hope is a waking dream,” and I am hopeful for the future of District 55. We have a moment in time where we can build a better, more inclusive California, but only if we act boldly, together.
I am asking for your support in this journey. Together, we can move Forward 55—toward a more equitable, just, and prosperous future for all.
Thank you for your consideration. I hope to earn your vote as your next California Assembly Delegate.
LA Times 2024 CD10 Endorsement

I have a background in providing services to the unhoused in both New York City and Los Angeles, where I currently live in the vibrant, rapidly evolving neighborhood of Mid City. Working in a shelter for the unhoused in Santa Monica and directly with its clients, I gained firsthand insight into the causes of homelessness and the systemic barriers people face in securing stable housing. Determined to make a broader impact, I joined Abundant Housing LA as a Field Organizer, where I fought for equitable housing policies across the region. Over time, I began to wear more hats—expanding my role to include digital organizing, leading a communications committee, while launching new chapters. I’ve seen first-hand how even so-called “progressive” organizations can replicate the same exploitation and disregard for labor rights they claim to fight against. When I advocated for fairness and accountability, I was met with systemic retaliation—a familiar reality for many workers, especially Black women, who demand dignity in the workplaces! My passion for justice goes beyond housing. I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Crimea, Ukraine, where I supported community development initiatives, and I’ve held leadership roles on the boards of the Westside Urban Forum and the Miracle Mile Democratic Club. These experiences strengthened my commitment to real equity—not just in words, but in action. I believe the Democratic Party must do more than talk about justice—it must practice it. That means standing up for workers, holding institutions accountable, and ensuring that those in power cannot exploit the very people who sustain progressive movements. I am committed to amplifying the voices of working people, renters, and historically marginalized communities, ensuring that progressive policies aren’t just campaign slogans but real, transformative change. To balance all of this passion, in my free time, I enjoy writing comedy and creating spaces for community members to engage in thoughtful, honest dialogue. I believe leadership requires both courage and integrity—listening to diverse perspectives while calling out hypocrisy and standing firm on values of equity, justice, and dignity for all. As your ADEM representative, I will fight for policies that truly center workers, tenants, and the communities that progressives claim to represent—without caving to the pressures of power, profit, or nonprofit industrial complacency.

My name is Benjamin Vizcarra-Barton and I am running to be a first-time delegate in AD 55. I am running as part of the Progressive Delegate Network (PDN) slate. This will be my 1st term as a Delegate and, as an anti-Zionist Jewish person, I am excited to be a part of the movement pushing to put Palestinian liberation on CADEM’s platform. I am excited to be endorsed by the Progressive Delegates Network (PDN). PDN is demanding a break from our status quo, where we no longer have to vote for the “lesser evil”, and where we can start recognizing the power we have when we get organized. I am 23 years old, the son of a Mexican immigrant and a Jewish labor organizer. As a volunteer organizer with Jewish Voice for Peace, I have spent much of the last year organizing protests and creating anti-Zionist Jewish spaces for members of my community who feel that Israel and the genocide against Palestinians does not accurately represent them. I have also dedicated my time to various mutual aid groups within AD 55, giving food, water, hygiene and harm reduction supplies to my houseless neighbors. I was born and raised in Culver City and currently work as a Native Seed Collector in the Santa Monica Mountains. I am writing this statement from a hotel room, having evacuated from the Los Angeles fires. This is a moment in history that I feel can not be ignored. A moment when the climate catastrophe has reared its face and punished us for not paying attention sooner. I am running to be a delegate in AD 55 to ensure that the topic of Palestinian liberation does not leave our discourse, and that the work that has been put into this movement does not go unrecognized. As of the moment of this statement’s writing, a ceasefire has been signed and agreed to between Hamas and the Israeli government. However, this can not undo the pain and suffering that the Palestinian people suffered for the past 15 months, and the 72 years prior to that. My friends and I in Jewish Voice for Peace, who protested and demanded an end to the atrocities, will not forget this past year. My work as a Native Seed Collector is deeply affected by the climate catastrophe, and our work is driven by the need to decolonize our natural spaces. Decolonization is not necessary just to save human lives, but also to save our planet.

Hello, my name is Hayley Hutt. I am excited to announce I am running as a delegate to the California State Democratic Party for Assembly District 55. I am an Assembly district 55 native, born and raised. I serve as a field deputy for the 61st California State Assembly District, managing constituent services and organizing community events. I am committed to advocating and advancing policies that promote racial justice, food and housing insecurity, protecting the environment, public safety, reducing violence, and promoting equality and fairness for all Californians.

My name is Nancy Barba, I am a Latina, mom, and passionate advocate for equity, sustainability, and community. I am running as part of the Progressive Delegate Network endorsed slate. I am rooted in the values of hard work and resilience, shaped by my family’s journey as braceros and my upbringing in South Central Los Angeles by a single mother. Growing up I learned the importance of resilience, community, and opportunity. These values shape my candidacy to seek opportunities to galvanize our party to stand for housing, healthcare, and environmental justice as human rights. Education was a transformative force in my life. As part of the school's integration program, I commuted daily from South Central Los Angeles to Sherman Oaks, a journey that showed me the disparities in opportunity and inspired my passion for equity. I earned a B.S. in Business Administration and furthered my expertise with certifications in energy efficiency and green building. I serve as a director at an energy efficiency and decarbonization consulting firm, working with local governments and utilities to tackle climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build climate-resilient communities. I’ve dedicated years to public service and community advocacy. As a former city planning commissioner, I’ve addressed housing and exclusionary zoning policies that perpetuate inequality. I founded Culver City for More Homes, a grassroots group advocating for housing equity, tenant rights, and sustainable development. My leadership extends to environmental advocacy as a Sierra Club West LA executive committee member, where I champion urban sustainability and environmental justice initiatives. My advocacy and work is intersectional, focusing on issues like racial justice, housing accessibility, and climate resilience, ensuring that every policy I champion uplifts the most vulnerable. I’m deeply invested in holding the California Democratic Party accountable in centering the values of civil rights, worker rights, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive justice, and informing policies that shape People’s ability to create a world where everyone can thrive. I bring a results-driven, data-informed approach to policymaking, paired with a deep commitment to community engagement. I’m ready to tackle the most pressing challenges—housing, climate change, and civil rights—with bold, progressive solutions.

I am excited to announce my candidacy for a third term as a delegate to the California State Democratic Party for Assembly District 55. I am committed to advancing policies that promote justice, equity, and meaningful change. My work as an advocate, organizer, and public servant has positioned me to effectively represent our district and fight for policies that uplift marginalized communities. Serving as a delegate over the past several years has deepened my commitment to ensuring our party reflects the diverse voices in our community. I have seen firsthand how grassroots organizing drives change, and I am passionate about continuing this work in my third term. Previously, I served as District Director for the 55th California State Assembly District, managing constituent relations and organizing events to engage the public. This experience gave me a deep understanding of state government and strengthened my ability to advocate for policies that address our district’s needs. In addition to my government work, I have led several volunteer and advocacy efforts, both locally and nationally. As PAC Director for Reproductive Freedom For All CA Privacy, I focused on protecting reproductive rights and expanding healthcare access. As Chair of the Women’s Committee for the Los Angeles County Young Democrats, I advocated for policies to empower women. I also serve as Vice President of the Black Women’s Democratic Club and as a board member of the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats, where I fight for racial justice and equality. These roles have reinforced my belief in the power of collective action. I have organized canvasses, recruited volunteers, and led large-scale events to ensure our voices are heard. Through these efforts, I have gained the skills to continue pushing for meaningful, lasting change. I am committed to building a future where everyone has access to quality healthcare, economic opportunities, and education. I stand for policies that protect the environment, reduce violence, and promote equality and fairness for all communities. I look forward to continuing to use my voice to encourage the Democratic Party to push forward a future in AD 55, grounded in justice, equity, and sustainable opportunity. With your support, I will bring the same dedication, passion, and experience to my third term as a delegate. I’d be honored to earn your vote. Please vote for the complete FORWARD 55 slate so we can work together to achieve these goals and create lasting, positive change for all Californians.
